One-to-one coaching that meets you where you’re at.

Mental and physical health don’t operate separately. Both intimately impact the other, and you are the expert of your own body and mind. We combine psychotherapeutic methods from narrative therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and a strengths-based approach in partnership with mindful movement and grounding techniques to help you meet your mental and physical goals.

In other words, we combine talk therapy with physical movement to help you feel personally capable of navigating the stresses and hard parts of being a person.

Here is some info about our services our clients have said they find helpful:

1) What if I only want to do physical movement work (and less therapy-type work)?

That is totally okay! Everyone is different, and we meet you where you’re at. With that being said, our coaching does tend to encourage self-reflection, listening to one’s body, and is counter to the “drop and give me 20” kind of fitness culture.

2) What if I want to do psychotherapeutic work (and not so much the fitness stuff?

That’s totally okay too! Much like the question above, we meet you where you’re at. With that being said, in some of our therapeutic work we may play with art creation, breath work, or gentle stretching (which are all movement-based, or “somatic” forms of therapy).

3) What does a session look like?

Everyone is very different, so each session will be unique to the client and their needs that day. Session times vary (up to an hour long) and are held over Zoom. We will always start with a verbal check-in of some kind, and you will be asked what is important to you that day. From there, the rest of the session will include some ratio of talk therapy and mindful movement, depending on what you’re working on.

4) What are your rates?

We understand that the world is an expensive place right now, and that not all folks have access to the same resources. We offer a sliding price scale for those who could benefit from this service. Please let us know if finances are a concern, and we are more than happy to make a plan together.

5) How do I get started?

The best way to start is to either email Alex at alex@abhmovement.com or text them at 416-471-3648. Text is best, as they are often with a client and cannot answer immediately. They will ask about your goals, interests, and set up a free 20-minute consultation call so you can see if you’re a good match for each other!
